My point is that we don't need anymore gun control, because it's not going to work.

Bad logic. Just because one gun control law does not work, does not mean another one wont.
Part of your argument is that gun control does not work in other countries, yet the stats speak for themselves. Murder rates are much, much lower.
Crime rates are similar between the UK and the US, however that does not include the 2 million or so DGUs every year which would put the US as the highest crime country in the western world.

And if you can't understand that then you're too stupid to be here.

It is not that i dont understand it, it is that you have not make a decent argument to prove your argument.

Even if that statement made any sense, it couldn't possibly work in America.

Blah, blah, blah....

Quote:
There's no way to reduce crime with gun control, because there's no link between widespread legal gun ownership and gun crime rates.

There is. You just dont want to see it.

Im going to look at those who have already committed crimes rather than first times because this shows more how criminals can get guns, as they were probably criminals when they obtained their guns, ie they should not have been allowed to get their hands on one in the first place.

11.4% in 1997 got their guns from shops. (legal source)
39.2% got them from friends or family. (More than likely, legal source)
42.4% got them from illegal sources.
6.9% from "other".
So, more than half of the guns we know where they came from, came from a legal source. about 65,000 criminals gained their guns from legal sources. That does not include federal crimes either. Another 30,000 of first timers got their weapons from legal sources.
Also, the clearence rates must be taken into account.

www.fbi.gov/ucr/05cius/of...tml#figure

62.1% of murders are cleared up, that means every year 6,500 murders are not solves, the majority come probably from gun murders. Burglary, 12.1%, robbery 25.4%, how many of these are committed with guns???

How many criminals are getting their guns from legal sources? Only 45.5% of violent crimes are cleared up. That is from 1.4 million crimes, 800,000 violent crimes are not cleared up.

Stop criminals getting guns, and you have can reduce the impact of crimes, and also reduce the number of crimes.

It is possible.

And if you don't believe me, then fill out a request under the Freedom of Information Act to find a study that proves gun ownership contributes to crime and see what results you get.

ANd that is your evidence, something cannot exist because there is no study. Yet you wont accept what the supreme court said 100 years ago, but you will accept something because there is no study on it therefore it cannot exist.
:lol

Quote:
And until there IS such a study, that's in absolutely no way connected with the Joyce Foundation, continuing to state that more gun control will save lives will be the exact same as an outright lie.

A concept for you. I dont need a study that says humans breathe, to be able to breathe. Just because someone has not done a study on something, does not mean it does not exist.

Quote:
Isn't that basically human nature?

Yeah, also human nature is to try and protect ourselves. We make laws to do that.

At least in Texas you have a better chance of defending yourself than in Washington D.C. or Chicago.

Of course you do, why? Because you are more likely to be attacked, so more chance you will have to defend yourself.
