Reddbecca:
And if you don't believe me, then fill out a request under the Freedom of Information Act to find a study that proves gun ownership contributes to crime and see what results you get. You won't find anything though, because no such study exists and that just goes to prove that targeting the law-abiding provides nothing more than feel-good legislation that does nothing to save lives.

Burying your head in the sand again? How do you explain the high homicide rate of the US compared to other high income nations? If you were really correct then we would expect the US to have one of the lowest homicide rates because it has the most guns. But it has the highest homicide rate of all developed nations. Your constant speculation is baseless. And studies have been done that connect gun ownership with homicide. And you don't need the Freedom of Information Act to access them. You just need to open your eyes. Here's one example-

"After controlling for these characteristics, we found that keeping a gun in the home was strongly and independently associated with an increased risk of homicide (adjusted odds ratio, 2.7; 95 percent confidence interval, 1.6 to 4.4). Virtually all of this risk involved homicide by a family member or intimate acquaintance."
