"After controlling for these characteristics, we found that keeping a gun in the home was strongly and independently associated with an increased risk of homicide (adjusted odds ratio, 2.7; 95 percent confidence interval, 1.6 to 4.4). Virtually all of this risk involved homicide by a family member or intimate acquaintance."

I think the reasons have nothing to do with a firearm in the house. I have had one in the house since 2003, and have had no different changes. Honestly the gun doesn't change the person to be more homicidal. '

From what I have seen the reasons for home gun violence aren't because of guns, but other factors. For instance look at Chris Beniot, to blame the murder suicide on guns would be stupid. We may never know that reason, but I can tell you it wasn't the gun.

I had a friend who accidentally shot his wife and killed himself out of grief. Now I had bought into this story before I bought my first firearm, but after being a gun owner, I started having serious problems with the story and really started asking questions of why. from what I was told, he was cleaning his gun and it went off and hit his wife in the head and after seeing that he shot his wife turned the gun on himself. The wife wasn't dead but got up after a couple of hours and called the police. She has some short term brain damage thought from the shot.

Now looking at the story I was told, he would be honestly the first one I know of EVER to clean their weapon loaded. Most gun owners always check the chamber. So now the problem is personal responsibility, if the story is 100% true. It wasn't the gun but the person's lack of responsibility that was the cause for the tragedy.

Many anti-gunners feel that people aren't responsible enough to have guns. To some of them I can understand their thinking because maybe they haven't seen responsible people with guns. People like myself. They probably have seen nothing but violence with guns and the symbol of guns to them represents death. which of course is reinforced by the media. Does the media really report people like myself. Nope, we are invisible and do not exist.

Point is it is personal responsibility that keeps people safe. The elitists think only they are responsible enough. which is why they always attempt to disarm everyone else, except them.
