The thing that people trip about with celebrities having bodyguards isn't that they have them, but it is because they talk about security without guns but then have bodyguards to protect them. It's the hypocritical aspect that burns many people up.

But it is only hypoocritial if you look at it from a very blinkered view.

YOu say, they dont want guns, but have bodyguards with guns, ie a they dont want but have type situation.

But that does not take into account any other information, like why these people feel they need to have guns, as i have explained.

Quote:
problem is they want safety at the expense of the rights of people who desire firearms. They would say, I don't feel safe with you having those guns, so let's take YOUR guns away so i can feel safe. That is what pisses off many shooters.

In many cases it is the same ignorance that everyone else has. However these people are making judgements based on very little thinking and a lot of propaganda. But then in many cases the people who are critising are also coming from the same position, only they use different propaganda.

Would you want someone taking away a right you have for another to feel safe ?

I have always said, there is 100% freedom which is anarchy in which most people are not free, or a dictatorship which is probably about 25% freedom. We look for something inbetween.
If you had to drive a bullet proof car to pick up the kids from school, then shoot at people while going from the car to the house, you might be "free" from laws, but not free from the other stuff.
So the maximum freedom is when you can do what you want, from a governmental point of view and a crime point of view.

As my argument goes, it is often better to have a safer enviroment than a place where you can defend yourself and are much more likely to. It is not as simple as that, i know.

To be honest, many Americans have a distorted view of the world, especially liberals.

I would just say that many americans have a distorted view of the world regardless of their political views. Also i would say your liberals would probably be conservative in the UK.
Here i suppose i am considered a raving liberal, in the UK i am probably considered a conservative liberal, a bit like blair

Many of them think that during the Clinton Administration we has peace but in reality there wasn't but a successful media blackout of anything really bad. Look at Rawanda, Blackhawk down and yes Clinton did send cruise missles into the Sudan to try to kill Osama Bin Laudin and also approved Operation Desert Fox which was a bombing campaign against Iraqi air defense systems, which were tracking our planes flying in the no fly zone.

It depends, you know, clinton was the only president to be considered a post war non war president. The cold war lasted up till Bush senior and then came clinton, and dubya has gotten the US into one of the two worst war situations in the history of the US (in terms of discontentment of the people, rather than deaths).

so many of the Rosie Odonnell crowd, have no clue as to the real world because like the playboyish types of the 1930's they had no clue; but in saying this this is also historical for the USA.

As the phrase that comes from americans in europe "america got the president it deserved"

Even them there were conspiracy theorists saying that Roosevelt allowed Pearl Harbor to happen, just like how Rosie O'Donnell says that 911 was a conspiracy. See the similarity.

Conspiracy theories are for people who are just bored with life. Though the last guy out of the twin towers claims that some guy turned up at the bottom of the building with his skin blown off, and he had heard an explosion underneath him. But no one seems to have a proper answer for all this, i reckon it was diana, princess of wales myself.
