Rubbish. Less people die in the UK, are we more or less for the individual??

You yourself said that while you have less deaths you have more crimes.

And now we find a survey that states that 1 in 3 people in Britain owns a weapon for their own personal defense. It's not like in America where 1 in 3 people owns a gun, because while they do have them for self-defense they've also got them for hunting a sports. But in the UK people own stuff like cricket bats, golf clubs, pieces of piping and other blunt instruments that aren't linked to sports.

Yeah, but if you have 100% freedom, ie youre in anarchy, you are going to be on your own, or join forces with others. But at the end of the day, you are probably going to die.
In iraq the people are basically on their own and they die.
Go down the scale, less people die if they are less on their own. Why, because dealing with a problem on mass works better than dealing with it individually.

Stop brining up the 100% freedom crap, that's not the argument.

So what? That doesnt exist, she is a target, so she needs protection.

How exactly is she a target that's worth anymore than anybody else?

Theoretically speaking, which would you prefer, a place with no guns and no crime, or a place with guns and a 50% chance you will get mugged when leaving your home, and a 1% chance you will be murdered????

Alright, I'm gonna have to get in depth on this one...

Theoretically speaking, I'd much rather prefer the second option, and for a number of reasons.

The first options, a place with no guns and no crime, sounds like the impossible utopia many people dream of. It's impossible to acheive because of the basic human element. To ensure that there wouldn't be any crime would require extreme violations of human rights, such as forced compliance of drugs and brainwashing to suppress all violent tendancies and desires to get ahead and earn a better living. Forced compliance of conforming to a generic status would be necessary to make sure that nobody had their feelings hurt or grew jealous or envious of anyone else that might spark something in them that would lead to hatred for one reason or another.

There would also need to be a way of monitoring every single person, even on the mental level to make sure that they're not harboring violent thoughts, and anone found to be in such possession of said thoughts would need to be lobotomized or executed to make sure that they don't act on their thoughts.

I already live in a world where I could get mugged, where I might get killed. As such I know how to deal with it, so I'm better suited for the second option of living rather than the first.

Along with guns comes options. There might be a chance of crime but there's also a chance of better survival in other instances where crime isn't the issue. Say you're struck with a natural disaster like Katrina, or the tornado that tore apart Greensburg Kansas and just about wiped it off the face of the Earth this year. You've got looters to worry about, what good is it to not have a gun when the police and National Guard won't do anything even when they see a crime going on? With a gun you can protect yourself, your family, and whatever possessions you have left after the storm.

What about if food supplies are cut, what then? If you have a gun then you could go out and harvest deer or birds to feed your family until you can be reached by others with necessary supplies.

What if you live in a rural area where there's been instances of animals attacking people and coming into their homes. What do you do if you don't have a gun, hit them with a frying pan or call animal control even if it's a grizzly bear?

Time is of the essence in certain situations. And a gun ten seconds away is still better than a policeman five minutes away, and far more useful.

So what? If you want to go to war there is probably something wrong with you. Being a soldier is important for defence, but in the end, most do not really want to get killed for their country.

Draft dodgers were viewed as traitors and unpatriotic and were jailed. He hid in Canada, but still got to be president for two terms despite this. With that kind of record you shouldn't even be allowed to run for president since you abandoned your country.

You don't wanna go to war, fail the physical.

I have no idea!!!

What do you mean conspiracy theorists are just people who are bored with life? Where do you get that crap?
