Each year in the United States, approximately 30,000 persons with BB and pellet gun * -related injuries are treated in hospital emergency departments (EDs) (1). Most (95%) injuries are BB or pellet gunshot wounds (GSWs); 5% are other types of injuries (e.g., lacerations sustained inadvertently while cleaning or shooting a gun or contusions resulting from being struck with the butt of a gun) (1). Most (81%) persons treated for BB and pellet GSWs are children and teenagers (aged less than or equal to 19 years). To assist in developing strategies for preventing these injuries, CDC analyzed data from an ongoing special study of nonfatal gun-related injuries conducted using the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System (NEISS) of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission; this study has characterized the epidemiology of BB and pellet GSWs among children and teenagers in the United States during June 1992-May 1994 (2). This report summarizes the circumstances of six cases of BB and pellet gun-related injuries identified through NEISS and presents the findings of the analysis of NEISS data.

What this tells you is that BB guns are an item that needs to be respected and like any weapon if you are not careful, you can hurt yourself and someone else. Just like any gun.

I know your not talking about banning them, please tell me your not talking about that. Like they already do in Chicago. But I think your talking about some sort of control for BB guns. I take the same stance as like firearms, control of firearms and BB guns runs with personal responsibility.

I know this personally because I had a friend accidentally shoot his wife on accident. Now I think I have told the story before but you don't clean your weapons loaded. In fact most people I know of usually check any weapon they have before handling it. That is personal responsibility.

Also personal responsibility is making sure your weapons are placed in areas where children cannot get at them. I have a little girl now, now granted it's too early for her to even get at my weapons, but having personal responsibility means putting your weapons out of reach of children, and even going that extra level of ensuring that even if they are found that no-one unauthorized can use the weapon. So for me I'm for trigger locks, that was one thing that I support from the Brady campaign.

Regardless of the stats, you want to work on getting those numbers lower, you help people in handling weapons BB guns, firearms, stress personal responsibility. that is the way of getting those numbers lower.
