IMO this law does show the distinct differences between both sides and that neither side is listening to the concerns of the other.

Those that want the amendment do not want legal gun owners like myself or legal gun dealers, to become targets of groups that desire to shut them out of business. It's not like they haven't tried before. So their credibility is messed up, meaning the mayors who want this information.

It is no secret that they want to destroy the gun industry and also to label gun owners as criminals to be watched. Here is a quote from Jessie Jackson, granted he isn't a mayor, but I'm pretty sure Daley of Chicago feels the same way.

Quote:
In the month of July we have increased police to keep firearms from coming into the city. So why can't we do the same to watch when someone buys a gun and brings it into the city.

To many of the cities mayors, even one gun crime, warrants targeting of gun stores. Yes they say only 1% and that is true. But do you trust that they will go after rogue gun dealers who may sell guns to criminals. I don't, and their actions haven't convinced any gun owners either.

Now I do think that giving trace information to police may help in crime investigations, but as they say in spiderman,
Quote:
with great power comes great responsibility
and the mayors like Daley, and Senator Shumer haven't shown that we can trust them with that sort of information. Will they take such information and use it to confisgate guns and to outright target legal gun stores. I think they will. Look at the people they ally themselves with, and never say they won't either.

If they continue to have the opinion and standard:
Quote:
if one life is lost, it was worth the effort
then all gun stores are targeted. No anti-gunner on this board will even say different. Probably at best they will either be silent, or agree. which is the problem.

Looking at this trace data. They would target all these gun stores for closing, because it has more than one life lost to a gun bought from that store. That means a closing down, or more or less blackmarketing the firearms industry. which is what they really want.
