This is more on how he would answer. The truth is he works best when gun owners do nothing and from what I have seen they aren't. Most of them rely on southern Illinoisan legislatures against gun legislation.

If that's the case then I'd just have to step things up, perhaps get a little more violent in trying to get my answers and discredit him.

Me: How many of the 700 crimes were simple ownership violations?
Jackson: What we are saying is that Suburban Sporting has had 700 traces linked from crime scenes to this particular gun shop.

You DIDN'T answer the question! How many of the 700 crimes were nothing more than a person possessing a gun with an expired FOID card? How many involved the original buyer of the gun instead of somebody who stole the gun? And just where is this crime trace data that you used to come to this conclusion!?

We need to make thee gun stores accountable

They're already accountable. Only somebody who doesn't know state and Federal law wouldn't know that. Read the Gun Control Act of 1968. Read the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act. Read your own state laws!

Quote:
Me: How many of the linked guns weren't used by the original buyer?
Jackson: That is my point, if we had registration, the original buyer would be accountable for the guns that were linked to the crime, as well as the gun dealer.

You didn't answer the question, how many legal buyers were involved in the crimes you're claiming occurred with guns bought from this store?

And another thing, there IS gun registration in Illinois, also gun OWNER registration. That's what the FOID card is for. That's what form 4473 is for. And if you knew anything about how the laws worked then you'd know the police can access the information at any time to tell who bought what gun, and know exactly where they live.

Quote:
Me: How're the criminals LEGALLY buying guns when they need to get a permit to buy from the police who screeen the applicants very carefully?
Jackson: We know that criminals buy their guns through straw purchases. By registering guns, the police will know who has a gun and we will have a safer society.

They already know who has guns, it hasn't made anywhere safer. The FOID card is the registration of a person legally able to buy a gun in Illinois, police know exactly where they live and not having a FOID card at the time of having a gun is a criminal offense!

This statement to me, is the real intention of the anti-gun movement. If they could, they would want gun laws just like Washington DC, but they cannot use Washington DC as a model, because it has a very high crime rate. They are interested in discouraging responsible gun ownership look at Britain.

I'd have to go a lot further then, get straight to the heart of the matter. I'd ask them why they're not only openly, but also proudly, supporting plans and ideas that were originally demanded by the Klu Klux Klan to keep people like them (blacks) disarmed and helpless so they could be victimized without fear.

I don't enter into battles lightly. I have entire bills and laws regarding guns printed out in hard copies that I take with me wherever I go. Concealed carry bills, registration bills, Federal gun laws, state gun laws, gun laws in general. I also have letters printed off from the ATF and the CDC and FBI that help support the pro-gun claims.
