Reddbecca:So even in communist Japan, where there's no Second Amendment, no law allowing you to own a gun, and no rights to privacy or protection against double jeapordy and search and seizure, they've still got crime problems.Seems that no matter how tight you make the laws, somebody will always find a way to break them and do what they're not supposed to do.

Quote:So what is your point? That we shouldn't have any laws because people will break them?
Quote:Of course, people will break laws. We can't completely eliminate crime but we can reduce it.

Quote:Let's use your own logic against you. Texas has a lot of guns, but they've still got crime problems. So no matter how many guns you have, somebody will always find a way to break laws and do what they're not supposed to do.

Quote:My point is that we don't need anymore gun control, because it's not going to work.
Quote:And if you can't understand that then you're too stupid to be here.
Quote:Even if that statement made any sense, it couldn't possibly work in America.
Quote:There's no way to reduce crime with gun control, because there's no link between widespread legal gun ownership and gun crime rates.
Quote:And if you don't believe me, then fill out a request under the Freedom of Information Act to find a study that proves gun ownership contributes to crime and see what results you get.
Quote:And until there IS such a study, that's in absolutely no way connected with the Joyce Foundation, continuing to state that more gun control will save lives will be the exact same as an outright lie.
Quote:Isn't that basically human nature?

Quote:I've grown tired of trying to talk sense into you;
Quote:I might as well be beating a dead horse expecting it to get up and move. You've proven that the British don't believe in logic and don't care to.
Quote:You can't ever use gun control in one country to suggest that it works or would work in another country, because it doesn't transfer over.
Quote:You have to look at the entire culture, not just the laws. You have to check minority ratios, drugs, violence, family status, employment, social makeup, political stance, etc. for every single area. You can't just say "well this area has widespread legal gun ownership and doesn't restrict the types of arms that a person can own so obviously they have more gun violence for this reason" because it doesn't work like that.
Quote:You've proven that you don't read my posts, because I provided evidence to prove that Japan isn't one of the so called "other developed nations with lower gun crime than in America" because everything points otherwise. If you read my post and visited the link
Quote:the link you would've seen the various sources cited and the evidence presented to show that the Japanese not only control guns, they also control every single aspect of life and keep close tabs on everybody; right down to their sexual preferences. The police have unlimited power and may do whatever they wish.
Quote:The laws on life are so strict that Japan, in comparison, makes Britain look like America when it comes to rights and freedom. But since you chose to ignore the evidence I provided, you wouldn't know this.

Quote:The Missing Link:And if you don't believe me, then fill out a request under the Freedom of Information Act to find a study that proves gun ownership contributes to crime and see what results you get. You won't find anything though, because no such study exists and that just goes to prove that targeting the law-abiding provides nothing more than feel-good legislation that does nothing to save lives. At least in Texas you have a better chance of defending yourself than in Washington D.C. or Chicago.

Quote:They do do this, but then america did this many years ago, the govt attempt to make people normal, be married a man and a woman because that is normal, not gay marriage because that is bad, etc etc. Most of it comes from society, not from laws.
Quote:But then i know plenty of japanese people and they are free, just constrained by society and what they are expected to do. But they can say no if they want.
Quote:Prove it. Use the Freedom of Information Act to find the study that says you have a better chance of defending yourself in Texas. You won't find anything though, because no such study exists and that just goes to prove that concealed carry is nothing more than feel-good legislation that does nothing to save lives.

Quote:No you don't get it. The police have dossier reports on everyone detailing vast amounts of information, even if it has no relevancy to anything. Just some of the information on one of these dossiers include sexual preference, when you had sex, why you had sex in the first place, who you had sex with and the like. They basically know everything about you and have you on file.
Quote:The laws would say otherwise.

Quote:Wrong, concealed carry quite possibly saved my life. Fortunatly my attacker backed off when he saw there was no way for it to come out in his favor, and I didn't have to shoot. The point you and OMDP and Galileo don't seem to get is that no matter what laws you pass or self diluted rationals you come up with there are two groups of people you will never be able to take firearms away from. Criminals and freedom loving citizens. I carry a weapon, I always will always carry a weapon, it make no difference what you or galileo or ODMP or some judge in is bathrobe says. In the same vein I'm Catholic, I will always be Catholic it make no difference what you or galileo or ODMP or some judge in is bathrobe says. There called rights and people have them regardless of the laws, some just choose not to exercise them, which is fine thats their choice.God Bless,Lurch

Quote:The Supreme Court already said you don't have that right in the Baldwin decision.
Quote:And I have rights to life and happiness.
Quote:So these rights should be protected from people with guns.
Quote:If I get shot I won't be very happy and I might even die and that would violate my rights.
Quote:So that's why there needs to be more gun control. In other countries people don't get shot as much so their rights are more protected. So we need to have more gun control like they do.

Quote:And they also said in the Dredd Scott case that blacks aren't entitled to the same freedoms as whites. Should we just ignore the 13th and 14th Amendments as violating a Supreme Court decision!?

Virtually all of this risk involved homicide by a family member or intimate acquaintance."
